Our Quality Control Process
Every hidden camera and voice recorder undergoes an 8-point inspection before it leaves our warehouse. Here’s exactly how we test — and what it means for your wholesale order.
Why QC Matters for Hidden Camera Wholesale
Here’s what most hidden camera suppliers won’t tell you: the industry average defect rate for WiFi spy cameras is 5-8%. That means in a 100-unit wholesale order, 5-8 cameras will have issues out of the box — dead pixels, WiFi dropouts, charging failures, or lens misalignment. QZT’s defect rate is below 1.5%. This isn’t marketing — it’s math. And it’s the result of a QC process we’ve refined over 5 years and 10,000+ shipped units.
For buyers sourcing from markets with high return sensitivity — Italy (where the S3 socket camera had a 14% return rate for one distributor), Poland (product cosmetic issues), or Germany (strict consumer protection) — QC is not optional. It’s the difference between a profitable wholesale business and a returns nightmare. See how we handle Italian market requirements specifically.
The 8-Point QC Checklist
Every single unit — not just a batch sample — passes through these 8 checkpoints:
| # | Checkpoint | What We Test | Pass Criteria |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Inspección visual | Housing, lens, buttons, ports, LED indicators | No scratches, dents, discoloration, or misalignment |
| 2 | Power-Up Test | Battery charge, power-on sequence, LED behavior | Boots within 5 seconds; LED indicators correct |
| 3 | Conectividad WiFi | 2.4GHz pairing, signal strength, reconnection | Pairs within 30 seconds; maintains connection at 10m |
| 4 | Video Feed Test | Live video in app, frame rate, color accuracy | 1080P at 25fps minimum; no dead pixels or artifacts |
| 5 | Night Vision Test | IR LED activation, auto-cut filter, IR image clarity | IR LEDs visible; clear B&W image in total darkness |
| 6 | Audio Test | Microphone sensitivity, speaker output (if applicable) | Clear audio capture; no static or distortion |
| 7 | Storage Test | MicroSD detection, read/write, loop recording | Card detected; records and plays back correctly |
| 8 | Charging Cycle | Full charge/discharge cycle, battery capacity | Charges to 100%; holds charge within spec |
What Happens When a Unit Fails QC
Failed units follow one of three paths depending on the issue:
- Minor issues (scratches, cosmetic): Unit is downgraded to B-stock and sold at discount with full disclosure — never mixed into wholesale orders
- Repairable issues (loose cable, firmware): Reworked by our repair team, then re-enters QC from Checkpoint 1. A unit can cycle through repair a maximum of 2 times before being scrapped.
- Hard failures (dead sensor, mainboard): Scrapped and recycled. Components are not reused — this is a hard rule to prevent intermittent faults.
Quality Data We Track
| Metric | Current Value | Industry Average |
|---|---|---|
| Overall defect rate | <1.5% | 5-8% |
| WiFi connectivity failure | 0.3% | 2-4% |
| Sensor/pixel defects | 0.5% | 1.5-3% |
| Battery failure (within warranty) | 0.8% | 3-5% |
| Returns due to quality | 1.2% | 4-7% |
| QC pass rate (first attempt) | 96% | 85-90% |
We track these metrics per product model, per production batch, and per market — feeding the data back into manufacturing to continuously improve. For example, when Italian customer feedback showed higher-than-acceptable C10 sensor failures in humid coastal regions, we added conformal coating as an option for those markets.
Model-Specific QC Considerations
Different products have different failure modes — our QC process adapts accordingly:
C10 Camera Module
The C10’s FPC ribbon cable is the #1 failure point. Our QC includes a cable stress test — the connector is plugged/unplugged 3 times during testing to verify it holds. We also test with both 90° and 120° lens variants to ensure sensor compatibility. See our C10 Troubleshooting Guide for common issues.
Z10 Clock Camera
The Z10’s charging circuit is the most reported issue. QC includes an extended charging test — the unit is charged to 100%, left unplugged for 24 hours, then battery level is verified. Any unit showing more than 5% drain in 24 hours idle fails. See the Z10 FAQ Guide for setup and troubleshooting.
Pen Cameras (W8/W9/W10)
Pen cameras have two failure points: the writing mechanism and the camera. We test both — the pen must write 50 continuous words without skipping, AND the camera must record 10 minutes of continuous 1080P video without frame drops. For the complete product range, see our Pen & Mini Cameras Guide.
Pre-Shipment Inspection for Wholesale Orders
For wholesale orders of 50+ units, we offer an optional pre-shipment inspection report with photographic evidence of the QC process. This is particularly valuable for:
- First-time buyers wanting to verify quality before committing to larger volumes
- Distributors in high-regulation markets (Germany, UK) who need documented quality assurance for their own compliance
- Branded/OEM orders where branding quality (logo placement, packaging) needs verification alongside hardware QC
Preguntas frecuentes
Can I visit your factory to see the QC process?
Yes. We welcome factory visits from wholesale buyers. Our Shenzhen facility runs QC operations Monday-Saturday, and you can observe the full 8-point inspection process in person. For European buyers, our Rome warehouse also performs incoming QC on all stock. Schedule a visit through our contact page.
What’s the best way to handle a defective unit from a wholesale order?
Report it within 7 days of delivery with the serial number, a brief description of the issue, and a photo or short video clip. We’ll diagnose within 24-48 hours and offer a replacement, repair, or credit — your choice. For orders from our EU warehouse, replacements ship same-day. For more detail, see our troubleshooting guides for self-fix options.
How do I know the QC data you share is accurate?
Our defect rate data is verified by third-party inspection reports available on request for wholesale buyers. For orders over 500 units, we can arrange independent inspection by Bureau Veritas, SGS, or TÜV at cost. We track QC data per batch per model — not aggregated across products — so you see granular, product-specific quality metrics.
What’s covered under the 5-year warranty?
Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. This includes sensor failure, mainboard issues, charging circuit failure, and WiFi module defects. Excludes: physical damage, water damage (unless the product is rated for it), unauthorized modifications, and normal battery degradation. Replacement sensors for C10 modules are stocked in both Shenzhen and Rome for quick turnaround.
Do you test every unit in a wholesale order, or just a sample?
Every single unit. Our 8-point QC is a 100% inspection — not batch sampling. For orders of 100 units, all 100 go through every checkpoint. This is labor-intensive but it’s the only way to maintain our <1.5% defect rate. Batch sampling (AQL) is the industry standard — and it's the reason industry defect rates are 5-8%.
